On Monday we began class, our first class was Irish History. I really enjoyed this class. After this class we went into Galway for the afternoon and went grocery shopping. I found the grocery shopping to be a little difficult because the store was arranged much differently than they are in the States. During our free time that afternoon a group of us walked to the Spanish Arch. This arch is one of four arches built in 1584.

On Tuesday we had our Gaelic and Irish Culture class. After class a group of us went into Spiddal to explore. Our cottages are about 1.7 miles from town. When we got to town we went to the beach and the Craft Village. It only snowed/hailed on us once during our trip into town. On Wednesday we have Irish Literature class, this class is my least favorite so far. I also went into town on Wednesday. There were a couple of things our cottage needed from the Texaco, which is a gas station that has the essentials. My roommate and I ate supper at the Supermac’s, it is like a knock off McDonalds.

On Thursday we had our Special Topics class. For this class we went over our rules, talked about all the traveling we do while we are here and had a walking tour of Galway that afternoon. Before we went on our walking tour a group of us went to get some ice cream, which was delicious! After the tour a couple of us stayed in Galway for the evening and went out to the pubs. This was a great way for us to meet other college students in Galway.
On Fridays we do not have class, so most of us slept in and hung out in our cottages all day. I think some of us regretted staying in all day Friday because Storm Denis came through on Saturday which kept us in most of the day too. Saturday evening, we held a potluck and invited the French Students that are living in a house and the end of the cottages. We watched a movie and ate way too much food! On Sunday Storm Denis had moved out so some of us went into to Galway to explore all the little shops and pick up a few groceries.
