The Journey to Ireland

My journey started by packing my bags and preparing for my long flight to Dublin. I was sick the week before I left which made me feel like I was unorganized and not prepared to leave. After getting packed and saying my goodbyes I headed to Denver on Wednesday and spent the night in a hotel with my mother. I woke up early the next day to catch my flight at the Denver Airport. I flew with two other friends, Jordan and Korrine, which made the flight a lot easier. We had our first layover in Philadelphia. After our 4-hour layover we were finally back on a plane for a long flight to Dublin. During the long flight to Dublin I had to fight with some motion sickness but managed to not get sick on the plane. However, on the bus ride from Dublin to Galway I ended up getting sick. After we got to Galway, we had to take a taxi from Galway to Park Lodge Hotel.

After a long day of traveling we were welcomed by Marta, our professor, and the staff at Park Lodge Hotel. Later Friday evening Marta invited us over to her cottage for chili and snacks. After eating supper around six the girls and I struggled to stay awake to overcome our jet leg. We all slept well over eight hours that night and woke up feeling refreshed. Saturday morning, we made our first trip into Spiddal. Marta showed us around town. We stopped at one of the convenience stores to get some groceries. On the way back from town the wind started to pick up and it started to rain. We spent most of Saturday afternoon trying to stay warm in our cottage. Saturday evening we went over to Marta’s and helped prepare spaghetti for supper. We talked about how much fun this whole trip was going to be! By this time the other girls that were staying in cottage three had arrived. We stayed up way to late catching up and having fun.

Looking out of cottage three.
